It’s back!

We are so excited to announce that The 24 Hour Plays: Dublin will return to the Abbey Theatre for one night only – Sunday, 31st January, 2016.

A strictly limited number of Early Bird tickets will go on sale next Monday, 23rd November from the Abbey Theatre box office.

Early Bird tickets are €35 and when they’re gone, they’re really gone!
Standard ticket prices are €50, with Premium and ‘Back-Stage’ passes ranging from €70-€120!

The 24 Hour Plays will return to the Abbey Theatre on Sunday, 31st January 2016, for the 5th annual presentation in aid of Dublin Youth Theatre. Six short plays will be written, rehearsed and presented all within 24 hours by the best of Irish writing and directing talent and over two dozen of Ireland’s most recognized and beloved stars of stage and screen. A team of over 30 theatre technicians, including producers from The 24 Hour Company in New York, will facilitate the work.

This will be the 5th annual presentation of The 24 Hour Plays as a special gala fundraising event for Dublin Youth Theatre and tickets will cost from €35-€120, with all proceeds going directly to DYT.

Meet The 2016 Team: 

We are proud and delighted to announce the stellar line up for the fifth Irish production of The 24 Hour Plays: Dublin. Over the past four years, we have presented audiences with the best writers, directors and actors that Ireland has to offer, and this year is no exception.

Our star-studded cast features the very best of Irish stage and screen talent, including Pom Boyd, Dawn Bradfield, Kate Brennan, Peter Campion, Denis Conway, Lloyd Cooney, David Crowley, Donna Dent, Dagmar Doring, Sean Doyle, Nuala Hayes, Breffni Holahan, Will Irvine, Raymond Keane, Aoibheann McCann, Daryl McCormack, Joanne McNally, Geoff Minogue, Paddy O’Dwyer, Christiane O’Mahony, Claire O’Reilly, Lorna Quinn, Gene Rooney, Norma Sheahan, Eleanor Tiernan, and Ian Toner.

Playwrights include Lee Coffey, Tara Flynn, Emmet Kirwan, Rosaleen McDonagh, Derek O’Connor, and the writing duo Tracy Martin and Jacinta Sheerin.

The plays will be directed by Madeline Boughton, Selina Cartmell, Conor Hanratty, David Horan, Aoife Spillane Hinks, and Donnacadh O’Briain.

About The 24 Hour Plays

The 24 Hour Plays originated in New York in the mid-90s and is now an annual gala benefit on Broadway, as well as at the Old Vic in London, with performances in Chicago, Athens and around the world. The first Irish incarnation of The 24 Hour Plays received its sold-out Irish premiere presentation in February 2012 at Project Arts Centre and went on to win a Special Recognition Award for Best Event at the Irish Fundraising Awards that year. In January 2013, the show moved to the Abbey Theatre where it played to a sold-out house. Now in its 5th year, The 24 Hour Plays has raised over €37,500 for Dublin Youth Theatre through ticket sales and donations.

The 24 Hour Plays: Dublin is presented under a license and with the participation of The 24 Hour Play Company, New York, NY and is produced by Eva Scanlan and Phillip McMahon as a fundraising event for Dublin Youth Theatre.
