The 24 Hour Plays: Dublin was first presented in Ireland in February 2012, at Project Arts Centre. In 2013, the show moved to its new home at the Abbey Theatre, where it has sold out performances for its annual fundraiser. After a two year hiatus during the pandemic, we are delighted and proud to present the 10th annual production of The 24 Hour Plays: Dublin in aid of Dublin Youth Theatre on Sunday, 8th January, 2023.
Since its inaugural presentation, The 24 Hour Plays: Dublin has raised over €120,000 in ticket sales and donations, with all proceeds going directly to Dublin Youth Theatre.
Tickets for the next show on Sunday 8th January are on sale now via the Abbey Theatre website, visiting the box office in person, or by calling 01 8787222.
Run in partnership with the 24 Hour Plays, New York, and presented at the Abbey Theatre, The 24 Hour Plays is a one-night-only theatrical experience wherein six short plays are written, rehearsed, and presented within 24 hours.
It’s a never-to-be-repeated, blink-and-you-miss-it event and, now in its 10th year, is a highlight of the Irish theatre calendar.
Over 60 theatre artists are involved in bringing The 24 Hour Plays to the stage, including 6 playwrights, 6 directors, 30 actors, and over 20 backstage crew, designers, and producers. Everyone involved in The 24 Hour Plays volunteers their time and talent for Dublin Youth Theatre. Producers, directors, playwrights, actors, production assistants, designers, and stage managers give hours, days and, in some cases, months of work to put this show together to raise money for Dublin Youth Theatre.
The 24 Hour Plays: Dublin is generously supported by our partnering organisations: The Abbey Theatre, Dublin City Council Arts Office, Fishamble: The New Play Company, O’Reilly Theatre and Belvedere College, Grehans Printers, Micromedia and many more sponsors who help cover the costs of production, ensuring the maximum profit for Dublin Youth Theatre.
